Application procedure

Submitting an application

The application for registration of a topology shall be filed with the Patent Office. The documents and data are presented in Bulgarian. When submitted in another language, the filing date is retained if they are submitted in Bulgarian within three months of that date

The application receives a filing date when the Patent Office has received:

• application for registration with the name and address of the applicant;
• material allowing identification of the topology for which registration is requested;
• declaration for the date of the first commercial use and a sample of the integrated circuit in which the requested topology is realized, if the commercial use has been realized before the submission of the application.

The application also contains:

• code of the country of which the applicant is a national, in which he resides or in which he carries on an actual commercial or industrial activity;
• the name and address of the industrial property representative, when authorized, and a power of attorney;
• document for paid fees.

Representation

Any person who has the right under the ATIC to take action before the Patent Office may do so in person or through a local industrial property representative. Persons who do not have a residence or registered office in the Republic of Bulgaria are obliged to perform actions before the Patent Office through a local industrial property representative.

Fees

The Patent Office collects fees for: application, registration, publication of the registration in amounts determined by the Tariff for fees collected by the Patent Office.
