The Academy is part of the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) structure, which aims to support the building of human potential in the field of intellectual property, which is essential for innovation. The academy offers training opportunities, educational programs and courses for civil servants in a number of countries in many specialized areas of intellectual property. Part of the training program of the WIPO Academy are the various summer courses and distance learning, which are aimed at various target groups - judges, students and teachers, specialists in the field of intellectual property, lawyers and others. A large percentage of the Academy's seminars are also held online. A certificate of participation is issued to participants at the end of each training program. Members of the WIPO Academy are all Member States, which currently number more than 193. A key element in the development of the Academy is its cooperation with the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP).
Since its inception in 1998, the Academy has built a growing partner network and its community of intellectual property alumni, as well as faculty who have contributed greatly to its ever-growing success.
