On July 1, 2020 The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has launched the Ideas Powered for Business hub, with a range of initiatives to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the European Union to protect their rights in the field of Intellectual Property (IP).
The website of the EUIPO https://euipo.europa.eu/ohimportal/en/home /EUIPO Supporting Business/ has an easy access and an useful information on the services provided in the field of effective disputes settlement - opposition, revocation or cancellation of trademark registration and etc., and by the end of the year it is going to include an information on the facilitated services for electronic application based on a FastTrack way.
Another initiative of EUIPO Is so-called pro bono services. It includes a provision of free legal services for business in which the EUIPO will act as a mediator. For that purpose, there is going to be created a platform assisting the enterprises in their access to a legal information which they need to protect their intellectual property objects.With this initiative EUIPO aims to create a network of law offices, firms and IP representatives who are ready to provideSMEs with free of charge legal information. During the first phase of the project there are going to be accepted up to 500 requests for legal information. From June 10, 2020 with no time limit, an interest may be expressed by those who are willing to provide such services. Until July 1, 2020 such an interest in providing legal information in favor of business has been declared by 83 natural persons, companies, etc., working in the field of IP.
