Bulgarian Patent Office has a new President

Dr Petko Nikolov took over the position of President of the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria on August 23, 2016.

Dr. Petko Nikolov was born in Botevgrad in 1957.

He has Master degree in Law from Sofia UniversitySt. Kliment Ohridski”.

He specialized in currency, customs and tax control and in criminal science as well. He obtained Master degree in Finance from University of Veliko Tarnovo “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”. He is doctor of Economy and Management of intellectual property from University of National and World Economy.  

Since 1988 he has become a member of Sofia Bar Association. Until 2001 he worked as a lawyer.

In 2001 he was appointed President of the Supervisory Committee of the Privatization Agency.

In the period 2003 – June 2016 Dr Nikolov was Chairman of the Commission on Protection of Competition.

He has language skills in English and Russian.
