EPO President, Prof. Alain Pompidou to visit Bulgaria
At the invitation of the President of the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, the President of the European Patent Office, Prof. Alain Pompidou, will pay a two-day official visit to Bulgaria from 18-19 January 2007.
During the visit Prof. Pompidou will meet with the Chairman of the 40th National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgi Pirinski, with the representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Economy and Energy as well as with the President of the Bulgarian SME Promotion Agency, Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Governor of Sofia. Prof. Pompidou will be presented with a honorary diploma by the Rector of the University of National and World Economy for his contribution to the protection of the IPRs and his overall scientific activity.
After the ceremony, the distinguished guest will give a presentation before representatives of the academics circles. Meetings with Rectors of Universities in which IP Points have already been established are also include in the programme, namely Technical University of Sofia, Medical University of Sofia, University “Prof. Asen Zlatarov” – Burgas and Rousse University “Angel Kantchev”.
“The visit of the EPO President in the first month of our accession to the EU is a great recognition for the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria. We will aim at being an active and adequate participant in the process of implementation of the European policy in the field of the Industrial Property taking into account the interests of the Bulgarian national system. The effective partnership in the framework of the European patent system will allow Bulgaria to build a stable foundation for economic development, making the most of the intellectual property” - President Kostadin Manev said before the Focus Agency.
